Introducing the Artium violin bow

Artium

[Image: Roby Lakatos with Artium bow]Crafted in response to the demands of the greatest players, this wonderful bow is an improvement, not an alternative.

"A beautiful bow. A delight to use for both concerts and recording ... balance, control, warmth and responsiveness. Everything I've ever wanted from a violin bow. Superb. Bravo Artium".
ROBY LAKATOS

Carbon fibre is simply the finest material available to bow makers today. The skilled maker has complete control over the essential qualities of weight, balance, strength and elasticity, which define a bow's effectiveness.
The affordability, incredible consistency and unsurpassed durability of this material are simply bonuses compared to overpriced, fragile and unreliable pernambuco. The result is a combination of the finest qualities of the best French bows.

It is greatly pleasing that one of the outstanding virtuosos of the violin has chosen to use the Artium violin bow. Mr Lakatos’s unsurpassed technique and extraordinarily rich tone requires a bow which responds to unfathomable sensitivity and almost impossibly subtle direction. What is even more pleasing is that the level of control over the manufacturing progress is so great that every bow is identical. This means that you can have a bow the same as Roby’s!

The actual stick is made from the finest raw materials; poliacrylnitril fibres are forged together resulting in a durable and attractive blank bow stick, which is tungsten and diamond ground to provide a fine finish. The varnishing process takes one week and results in a crystal clear finish, proudly emphasising the beauty of this exciting material.

The traditional frog is mounted with the finest sterling silver. Sterling silver and French thread lapping complement the leather grip to ensure an outstanding aesthetic appearance, which reflects the outstanding playing qualities of the Artium violin bow. The bow tip is also faced with a solid silver tip while the Artium logo consists of a solid silver inlay.

The rehairing process is identical to that used for the hairing of traditional wooden bows. The good news is that the damage often inflicted during this delicate process is infinitely less likely.
